Hello! My name is Tina Dong, and I am a mental health therapist in the state of Arizona. I am fortunate to have been mentored by many amazing people throughout my life. Now, I use this knowledge and training to help the people I work with. Life has so many ups and downs, and people are usually able to work through the downs on their own. Sometimes, there are factors that can block a person. I help those who work with me to unblock themselves and move towards their goals and a more peaceful life. We also work to make plans for their future to hopefully no longer need therapy services and if there is a future need, then it would be a minor "tune up" so to speak.
My style is to be more active and engaged in conversation. Therapy is not like in the movies with awkward pauses and pressure to fill in the spaces. I begin with an intake where I gather as much history as possible to get a clearer picture of what led you to seeing a person like me, your current concerns, and what you would like to get out of my services. I will teach you about the brain, development, and provide skills to practice and work towards the identified goal(s). When we have reached those goals, we make a plan on how to sustain the progress and plan for potential future setbacks. Finally, we hold a closure session and celebrate the changes and progress you have made to no longer need me or a person like me in your life! Whoohoo!
The feedback I have gotten from my clients is that it has been easier to talk and open up to me more than other therapists they have tried. My clients don't dread coming to therapy and know they will have a better understanding of themselves when they leave. My people know I care about them, do not judge them, and we are on this journey together.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I'd love to get to know you as well! The information on how to get ahold of me is on the bottom of the page. Give me a call, and let's get to work!
The 2 big hobbies I have are music and the outdoors!
Mariachi
I am definitely the worst player in the group, but it is still so great to play my violin again and push the boundaries of my comfort zone.
Southern Arizona Rescue Association
SARA is an organization that largely helps people who are lost or hurt out in nature. I joined 2 years ago and have learned so many things to keep myself and the people around me safe.
